Unwired Networks has been responsible for the public Internet connection of the Spree-Neisse network of Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn (ODEG) since 2018.  In collaboration with Netmodule and Antonics, Unwired Networks delivered certified and preconfigured routers, access points as well as indoor and outdoor antennae for nine Stadler Regio-Shuttles. 

The implementation of reliable passenger Wi-Fi in 14 Alstom Lint54 trains of AKN proved to be a technically demanding challenge. Due to existing contracts, the Wi-Fi had to be provided through Deutsche Telekom’s “Hotspot as a Service.” Together with Kontron Transportation, Unwired Networks was able to meet these requirements using container virtualization, while also enabling efficient network management.
